New Work Opportunities for Finnish and South Korean Youth

Over the past week, the Government of Canada has announced new measures for Finnish and South Korean youth, beginning in 2024.

The Canada-South Korean Youth Mobility Arrangement will expand the ability of South Korean youth to participate in the international Experience Canada program. Starting in 2024, the eligibility will be expanded to include youth up to age 35, and participants will also be eligible for open work permits and internship work permits under this work program. Previously, only those with valid job offers were eligible to participate. Finally, participants will be able to participate twice in the program, each time for a duration of up to 2 years.

In addition, Canada has entered into an agreement with Finland to allow Finnish youth to participate in the International Experience Canada program. This will facilitate the issuance of work permits to Finish youth ages 18-35, with or without the support of an employer, or for an internship. These work permits will be valid for up to 1 year in duration.

Canadian youth will also have increased opportunities to travel and work in South Korea and Finland as a result of these developments.
