Canada Introduces Two New Immigration Pilots to Support Rural and Francophone Communities

Canada is rolling out two new immigration initiatives designed to strengthen rural and Francophone minority communities: the Rural Community Immigration Pilot and the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot.

These programs aim to address workforce gaps by attracting skilled newcomers to 18 designated communities outside Quebec, offering them a pathway to permanent residence.

The Rural Community Immigration Pilot is designed to help small, rural communities secure the skilled workers they need to sustain local businesses and economic growth. Meanwhile, the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot aims to increase the number of French-speaking newcomers in Francophone minority communities outside Quebec, aligning with the goals outlined in the 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan.

Each participating community will be supported by a local economic development organization, collaborating with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to identify pressing labour shortages, designate trusted employers, and recommend qualified candidates for permanent residence.
