Oliver Mao, Senior Associate Lawyer at BARTLAW LLP, was a speaker at the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) Immigration Law Conference on May 10, 2024, held in Montreal, Quebec.  Oliver’s presentation was part of the “Mutually Viable Product” session, which included a roundtable discussion with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on the development of practical technology problems and solutions. This session advocated for a collaborative effort between the CBA Immigration Section and IRCC to bridge the gap between IRCC’s technology team and its users, ensuring that technology solutions are not only innovative but also practical and user-friendly for those they are intended to serve.


Oliver Mao won the prestigious CBA Immigration Law Section Volunteer Recognition Award, aimed to recognize significant contributions made by members to the CBA Immigration Law Section. He received this award for his impact as one of the Section’s Portal Coordinators, in which he acts a direct liaison between the Bar and the Canadian government with respect to ever-present systematic issues concerning the online platforms through which immigration applications must be filed.


Jacqueline Bart presented at the Global Migration Section of the American Immigration Lawyers Association conference in Chicago on June 11, 2024, on the topic of Canadian Trade in Service, GATS and Economic Migration and Trade.
