Genevieve Giesbrecht

Associate Lawyer

Genevieve’s practice is predominately in the areas of temporary residence applications, including study permits, temporary residence visas and temporary residence permits. She also assists clients with process of obtaining Canadian Citizenship, through naturalization and through descent. In 2023, Genevieve was named by York University as one of the Top 30 Alumni Under 30 and was the recipient of the Canadian Bar Association Immigration Section – Founders’ Award.

Prior to joining BARTLAW Canadian Immigration, Genevieve articled with a full-service immigration firm in downtown Toronto. She worked on a variety of files including matters at the Immigration and Refugee Board, Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal, temporary and permanent residence files as well as inadmissibility issues. She also completed a term at the Refugee Law Office in Toronto.

Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Genevieve completed her Juris Doctor (JD) from Osgoode Hall Law School where she graduated in the top 4% of her class.
