Vanessa’s practice focuses on family class applications, humanitarian and compassionate applications, refugee matters, temporary residence applications, permanent resident card renewals and citizenship applications.
Having a keen interest in litigation, Vanessa has represented clients before the Refugee Appeal Division and Immigration Appeal Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board. She has argued judicial review applications and stay of removal motions before the Federal Court of Canada. She has regularly appeared before the Refugee Protection Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board and successfully represented refugee clients from Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South and Central America.
Vanessa obtained her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School. While in law school, Vanessa served as a caseworker at Parkdale Community Legal Services in the Immigration Division. Vanessa also holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of British Columbia.
Vanessa is fluent in Spanish.
