Immigration Update

Express Entry Update

On April 16th 2021, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued a new round of invitations to apply for permanent residence under the Express Entry system. This draw invited candidates who qualify for selection under the Canadian Experience Class. The minimum score selected was 417, and 6,000 candidates were invited to apply.

The minimum score selected in this draw is considerably lower than the previous draw held under the Canadian Experience Class on April 1st 2021, in which the lowest score selected was 432. With 6,000 candidates invited to apply, this is also the largest single draw we have seen since the February 14th 2021 draw. Should draws of this size for Canadian Experience Class candidates continue, we expect scores to continue to decrease.

In order to qualify for selection under the Canadian Experience Class, candidates must have at least one year of full-time skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years in addition to regular immigration eligibility and legal requirements.
