Express Entry Update

On January 8th, 2021, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued the second round of invitations to apply for permanent residence under the Express Entry system for the 2021 year.

This draw invited only candidates who qualify under the Canadian Experience Class. The minimum score selected was 461, and 4,750 candidates were invited to apply. To be eligible for selection under the Canadian Experience Class, candidates must have at least one year of full-time skilled work experience in Canada within the three years prior to submitting their application.

In the 2020 year, between March 2020 and August 2020 IRCC held several draws limited to only Canadian Experience Class candidates. As a result, we saw the minimum scores selected for candidates under this category decrease considerably. Should IRCC resume these limited draws in the 2021 year, we expect the minimum scores selected to decrease again. This a good opportunity for candidates with the required Canadian work experience to apply for permanent residence.
