Express Entry Update: Cut Off Score Drops to 484

On March 23, 2023, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued a new round of invitations to apply for permanent residence. Invitations were issued to candidates who qualify for selection under all Express Entry programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, Provincial Nominee Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

This week’s draw invited 7,000 candidates to apply, making it one of the largest draws held in the 2023 year to date. The minimum score required for selection in this week’s draw dropped to 484 points, down from 490 points last week. This is the lowest cut-off score we have seen so far in the 2023 year.

Last year, the federal government introduced legislative change allowing IRCC to select candidates through Express Entry based on attributes other than overall score, including such factors as education credentials, work experience or official language proficiency. While as of this date we have not yet seen category-based selection implemented, we are expecting it will be soon.
