Express Entry Update
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada continues to process applications for permanent residence under the Express Entry system. On April 15th 2020 and April 16th 2020, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued two additional rounds of invitations to apply for permanent residence, under the Provincial Nominee Program and the Canadian Experience Class.
In the April 15th 2020 draw, 118 candidates were invited to apply under the Provincial Nominee Program. The minimum score selected in this draw was 808. To qualify for the Provincial Nominee Program, candidates must have received a nomination certificate from a Canadian province or territory.
In the April 16th 2020 draw, 3,782 candidates were invited to apply under the Canadian Experience Class. The minimum score selected was 455. This is the lowest minimum score we have seen selected this year to date, as the draw was limited to Canadian Experience Class candidates only. To qualify for selection under the Canadian Experience Class, candidates must have at least one year of skilled work in Canada within the past three years and must meet minimum language proficiency requirements. Should IRCC continue to hold draws specific to Canadian Experience Class candidates, we predict that the minimum scores required for selection under this category will continue to decrease. This is a good opportunity for candidates who meet the Canadian Experience Class program criteria to apply for permanent residence.
