Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program Launches New Employer-Based In-Demand Skills Stream
On August 16th 2017, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) announced the launch of a new Employer Job Offer In-Demand Skills Stream. This program targets applicants in in-demand occupation in the agricultural and construction sectors. The following occupations are eligible:
NOC 7441 – Residential and commercial installers and servicers;
NOC 7521 – Heavy equipment operators (except crane);
NOC 8431 – General farm workers;
NOC 8432 – Nursery and greenhouse workers;
NOC 8611 – Harvesting labourers;
NOC 7611 – Construction trades helpers and labourers;
NOC 9462 – Industrial butchers, meat cutters, poultry preparers, related workers.
Applicants must have a permanent, full-time job offer from an eligible Ontario employer, as well as 12 months of cumulative work experience in Ontario in their intended occupation within 3 years of the date of application submissions. Applicants must demonstrate moderate English language skills, valid licensing for the position if applicable, minimum secondary school education, and funds to settle in Ontario.
Employers must agree to pay the prevailing wage in Ontario for the occupation, and make an offer of permanent, full-time employment. Employers must meet additional criteria to be eligible, including meeting minimum gross annual revenue requirements, and being in active business in Ontario for more than 3 years.
