Express Entry Draws
May 2025
Throughout May 2025, the Canadian government conducted several Express Entry draws across various categories, underscoring its continued focus on addressing targeted labour shortages across the country. These draws are particularly significant as they offer a clearer picture of the evolving selection landscape under the Comprehensive Ranking System since the removal of additional points for arranged employment on March 25, 2025.
May 1: Education Occupations Category
The first draw took place on May 1, which issued 1,000 invitations under the newly introduced Education Occupations category with a minimum CRS score of 479. This draw reflects Canada’s growing need for qualified educators and highlights the government’s commitment to supporting the education sector through targeted immigration.
May 2: Healthcare and Social Services Occupations
On May 2, 500 invitations were issued to candidates in the Healthcare and Social Services occupations category. The minimum CRS score for this draw was 510. This draw continues to underscore the importance of skilled professionals in essential fields such as nursing, allied health, and social work, as well as reflecting Canada’s ongoing efforts to fill critical shortages in frontline services.
May 12: Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
A draw under the Provincial Nominee Program was held on May 12, inviting 511 candidates. The minimum CRS score was 706, reflecting the 600 additional points awarded to those with a provincial or territorial nomination. This draw demonstrated the continued strength and impact of PNP nominations in enhancing candidates’ competitiveness within the Express Entry system.
May 13: Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
On May 13, the first Canadian Experience Class draw in over three months invited 500 candidates with recent skilled work experience in Canada. The minimum CRS score for this draw was 547, highlighting the ongoing competitiveness of the CEC stream in the post-arranged employment points era.
