Accelerated Work Permit for Asylum Claimants
Starting November 16, 2022, IRCC will being issuing accelerating work permits for certain asylum claimants inside of Canada. This measure will be in place for eighteen (18) months.
Once the claimant has provided biometrics, submitted the required documents, and completed an immigration medical exam, a work permit application will be automatically generated. This will allow claimants to obtain a work permit prior to their eligibility determination and referred to the Immigration and Refugee Board.
Work permits will be issued for a duration of two (2) years.
