Parent-Grandparent Sponsorship Program Intake to Reopen in July 2025

Starting July 28, 2025, the Canadian government will begin issuing invitations to submit sponsorship applications under the Parent-Grandparent Program to randomly selected individuals who submitted an interest-to-sponsor form in 2020. This intake round is expected to continue over approximately two weeks, with a goal of receiving up to 10,000 complete sponsorship applications under the program this year.

It is important to note that only those who submitted an interest-to-sponsor form in the fall of 2020 are eligible to be invited. No new interest-to-sponsor submissions will be accepted in 2025.

BARTLAW LLP is of the view that the government’s ongoing selection of 2020 expressions of interest is both inequitable and misguided, disadvantaging new immigrants who wish to sponsor their parents to Canada.
