Express Entry: Canadian Experience Class Scores Continue to Drop

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently issued two new rounds of invitations to apply to Express Entry.

On August 13, 2024, IRCC issued a round of invitations to candidates who qualify for selection under the Provincial Nominee Class. The minimum score selected was 690, and 763 candidates were invited to apply. To qualify for selection under the Provincial Nominee Class, candidates must have received a nomination certificate from a Canadian province or territory.

On August 14, 2024, IRCC issued a round of invitations to candidates to qualify for selection under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). To qualify for selection under the Canadian Experience Class, candidates must have completed a minimum of 12 months of skilled work experience in Canada within the past three years. The minimum score selected was 509 points, down one point from the July 31, 2024 draw. 3,200 candidates were invited to apply.

The continuation of draws specific to Canadian Experience Class candidates is a positive development for applicants in Canada who have been struggling to be selected under the higher all-program draws. Scores required for selection will likely continue to drop for these candidates as IRCC continues CEC-specific draws.
