Canada Targets Healthcare Professionals in This Week’s Express Entry Draw

This week, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued two new rounds of invitations to apply to Express Entry.

On February 13, 2024, IRCC issued a general round of invitations to apply for permanent residence. Invitations were issued to candidates who qualify for selection under all Express Entry programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class, and in all occupation classifications. This draw invited 1,490 candidates to apply, and the minimum score required for selection was 535 points.

On February 14, 2024, IRCC issued a round of category-based selection invitations to candidates with experience in selected Healthcare occupations. This draw invited 3,500 candidates to apply, and the minimum score required for selection was 422 points. To be eligible for selection, candidates must have a minimum of six months of experience in a designated health care occupation. Thirty-five occupations were targeted including physicians, nurses, dentists, medical laboratory technologists, and occupational therapists, among many others. Invitations were issued to candidates who qualify for selection under all Express Entry programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class.

IRCC continues to target Express Entry candidates in selected healthcare, STEM, trade, transport and agriculture occupations, as well as French-speaking candidates. Candidates with experience in these sectors both in Canada and overseas currently have a higher likelihood of selection, and we encourage them to apply.
