Immigration Update

Express Entry Update

On September 14, 2021, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued a new round of invitations to apply for permanent residence under the Express Entry system. This draw invited only candidates who qualify for selection under the Canadian Experience Class. To qualify for selection under the Canadian Experience Class, candidates must have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the last three (3) years.

The minimum score selected in this draw was 462. This draw was notably smaller than other draws held in recent months, inviting only 2,000 candidates to apply. In contrast, the Canadian Experience Class draws held in June and July 2021 invited between 4,500 – 6,000 candidates per draw. In August 2021, there were two draws under this category, both inviting 3,000 candidates each. Today’s draw continues to the trend toward inviting fewer candidates to apply per draw. As a result of the smaller number of invitations issued, the minimum score required for selection increased considerably, from 403 points in the August 19, 2021 draw up to 462 points.
