Ioana Ilas


Ioana’s practice at BartLAW focuses primarily on economic permanent residence, including Express Entry and provincial nominee programs. Prior to joining private practice, Ioana acted as Immigration Officer for the Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program.

Ioana was awarded a National Social Justice Fellowship by the University of Ottawa for her pro bono and fellow immigration work at Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization.

Ioana completed her Juris Doctor degree in French at the University of Ottawa. She articled within the busy environment of the Provincial Office of Legal Aid Ontario and was called to the bar in 2014. Ioana also holds a Bachelor of Civil Law and, before embarking on her legal career in Canada, was a lawyer (civil law) in Romania for almost a decade.

Ioana is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and is multilingual (ie. Fluent in English, French and Romanian).
